Are the courses taught in English or a combination of English and German?
The courses for students from aboard are held in English.
How many take offs and landings do I need?
The requirement is for six landings to be completed, including at least one full stop landing.
In the case of an application for a multi pilot airplane; if you have logged more than 500 hours flying experience on multi pilot airplanes of similar size and performance, you may reduce the requirement to a minimum of four landings in the aircraft. The Authority defines similar types as aircraft similar in size and performance.
Do you provide takes offs and landings (base check)?
As your training provider we are obligated to do so, if you choose to do the base check elsewhere you must talk to us first. All training must be conducted under a TRTO or FTO to be approved.
We will arrange the base check acc. JAR FCL 1.261 with Sterling Airlines usually within 1-3 weeks after your skill test. Note: Flight Training is a separate contract with the Airline!!!!
Why is your course longer/shorter than other TRTO?
Since the simulator flying is the most challenging task during the course it’s important to look at the amount of simulator hours when you compare offers from different TRTO’s.
Our aim is quality! That’s why our courses have more than the 36 hours (including LPC) required by JAA.
How long is the duration of the course?
Approximately 6 weeks. The course is divided into 3 weeks ground course and 3 weeks simulator training.
Where will I stay during the course, do you arrange accommodations as well?
We provide you with a list of letting agencies, lodgings and hotels close to our company. But it is your responsibility to find and book the accommodation.
Where will the technical/theory course and simulator training be held?
Both at our training center in Mönchengladbach/Germany.
Is your course JAA approved?
Yes, RWL German Flight Academy GmbH is a fully JAA approved FTO.
Approval Certificate No. D-FTO-1.002
This means that all our training meets the JAA standards and regulations and is recognised by all JAA member states. Upon completion we will give you a complete package with all documens/approvals that your CAA requires for acceptance of your new type rating.
I have a foreign license (not JAA) can I still start the course?
You can start the course but you have to make sure your national CAA accepts the training.
We cannot provide the base check for you if you don’t have a JAA license. Some countries does not require aircraft training for the issuance of the type rating.
If I want to start a specific course date, when do I have to apply?
We recommend to contact us at least two or more months in advance.
How do I apply?
We recommend you to apply well in advance (at least one month). This will give us enough time to block simulator slots and to schedule our instructors and you will have enough time to find a suitable accomodation.
What do I need to apply?
Minimum requirements for the type rating courses are:
Note: all certificates, lincenses and ratings shall be current at time of application.
I don´t have MCC, can you provide it to me?
Yes, we can provide the MCC course together with your type rating.
Do I need a training partner to start the course?
We will find one for you. Usually we have more than 2 pilots on each course. We will match you with a suitble training partner.
