Advanced UPRT Aeroplane

In recent years, it has been shown that unwanted flight conditions or loss of control of aircraft are among the major risk factors and can lead to accidents in aviation. For this reason, it is necessary to prepare pilots for dangerous situations in the best possible way, so that you can master unwanted flight conditions and loss of control.

The objective of the advanced airplane upset prevention and recovery training is to increase the student pilot’s ability to recognize and avoid situations that can lead to airplane upsets and improve the student pilot’s ability to recover control of an airplane that has exceeded normal flight conditions. This can be accomplished by increasing awareness of potential upset situations and knowledge of flight dynamics and by the application of this knowledge during training scenarios.

The training course

Theory

The aim of the theoretical knowledge course as part of the advanced UPRT according to FCL.745 is to prepare student pilots for UPRT in aeroplanes.

  • Recognition of upsets
  • Undesired aircraft states
  • G-load awareness and management
  • Energy management
  • Flight path management
  • Threat and error management
  • Human factors

The course consists of 5:00 hours class room instruction.

Practice

  • Threats and errors to be managed
  • Understanding of basic aerodynamics and flight dynamics to mentally integrate an understanding of the airplane AOA and energy state throughout the part of the flight envelope used in normal operations
  • Application of theoretical knowledge to prevent, and recover from, environmentally in-duced, airplane system induced and pilot induced upsets
  • Training of g-awareness to expose the SP to the physiological aspects of g-loading (positive / negative / lateral g) events to provide experience with the effects of sensory illusions
  • Energy and flight path management training with regard to manual handling skills
  • Developing of upset awareness
  • Airplane flight maneuvering information and techniques for recovering the airplane that has been upset

The advanced UPRT course contains 3:00 hours of flight training.

Safety

In order to ensure a high level of safety during the training, we only use teaching staff with an aerobatic license. Safety is also paramount when choosing the aircraft. For the training we use aircraft of the type Extra 300. An aircraft, which was developed for the aerobatics and always has large reserves.
